Series I
Water Gardens
The subjects are things that stop me on a walk. Water moving. Leaves catching sun.

Swan in an Arch
Gouache on paper · Hand-built ceramic frame, artist's own
Available
An arch is a doorway shape, so the painting behaves like something seen through an opening. The swan sits low and the trees close over the top, which is what a real pond looks like from the bank.

River Bend, 2025
Gouache on paper · Hand-hammered copper frame
Available
A round opening has no corners to lean on, so the composition is held together by the horizon alone, set slightly above the middle. The clouds and their reflection are painted with the same loaded brush.
